"White pollution" is a global problem, and the disposal of non-degradable plastics is a worldwide problem.
According to data, the global annual plastic production exceeds 350 million tons, and more than 100 million tons of white waste are generated. At least 127 countries and regions have adopted restrictive measures on disposable plastic products. In my country, as early as 2018, relevant national ministries and commissions successively issued a series of supporting policies and measures. On January 16, 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Control of Plastic Pollution", thus starting a new journey of plastic pollution control in China. In our province, the provincial party committee and the provincial government attach great importance to the prohibition and restriction of plastics. On July 29, 2021, the 30th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th Provincial People’s Congress passed the "Provisions on Prohibition of Non-degradable Disposable Plastic Products in Shanxi Province". Effective on July 1, 2022, our province has become the second province with administrative legislation after Hainan. Legally prohibiting the use of non-degradable disposable plastic products has greatly promoted the development of Shanxi's degradable plastics industry.
It can be seen that with the continuous introduction of the ban on disposable plastic products that are not easily recycled, the development of degradable plastics has been further promoted. The degradable plastics industry has ushered in a market vent, especially biodegradable plastic products have ushered in a development turning point.
According to the forecasts of professional institutions, China's demand for biodegradable plastic products is expected to exceed 3.5 million tons in 2025, and the market size will reach 50 billion yuan. The market potential of new biodegradable materials is huge. As the most used basic raw material in the biodegradable plastic market, PBAT is mainly used in the production of supermarket shopping bags, take-out lunch boxes, agricultural film, express packaging and foaming materials.

It is the environmentally friendly alternative material with the best market application and the greatest potential. It is in line with the ‘dual carbon’ goal and the national ‘plastic ban’ policy.
